AEFA.

More then just an award.

The Ardélion Award is the official honor presented by the Ardélion European Film Association (AEFA) at the Ardélion Awards Gala. Created to recognize and celebrate exceptional artists who choose courage, originality, and creative freedom over convention.

Created as a symbol of independence and artistic courage, the Ardélion Award recognizes storytellers who take creative risks, pursue their vision, and bring original stories to life outside the traditional systems of filmmaking. It honors individuals who have independently produced their films, written their own screenplays, and committed themselves fully to the demanding journey of creating cinema.

Each Ardélion Award is carefully designed and hand-crafted in Istanbul, Turkey, by a team of designers specializing in advanced 3D printing technology and design.

More than just a trophy, the Ardélion Award represents recognition for artists who dare to be different.

Cinema Without Borders

Every year, the Ardélion Awards Gala is hosted in a different European country. By moving the event across Europe, Ardélion celebrates the diversity and creativity of the continent’s film industry while shining a spotlight on the unique cinematic culture of each host nation.

This rotating location allows local filmmakers, screenwriters, and industry professionals to showcase their work on an international stage, while also welcoming talent from around the world. The gala becomes a meeting place where creative voices connect, collaborations begin, and new stories find their way to the screen.

Judgement Process

After submission, all films and screenplays undergo an initial review by our jury committee. Projects that pass this first stage are recognized as semi-finalists, meaning they have successfully advanced beyond the first round of judging. From there, entries are divided into two categories: Selected and Nominee.

  • Selected films are no longer part of the main competition but are still officially recognized for their quality. These films are invited to be showcased at independent screening events organized by partner film festivals. While Ardélion facilitates the recognition, the screenings themselves are hosted and managed by the respective festivals.

  • Nominee films represent the finalists of the competition. These projects remain in contention for awards and are invited to attend the Ardélion Awards Gala, where winners are announced.

All selected screenplays are automatically designated as Nominees, as they are not eligible for screening events. Screenplay nominees are therefore directly invited to the Ardélion Awards Gala.
